So you're here now, and unless you were around in the VCFL days you're probably wondering:
What the hell is this crap?
If you mean what the hell is Lieraon, the word; Lieraon is the name of the world that these places are in, as Earth is to us.
But I think you were probably wondering what the hell is Lieraon, the website?
In short, Lieraon is like a book, written by many and read by anyone. Instead of chapters containing pages we have threads containing posts, each post is written by a different user, and they come together to become another chapter in the tome that is Lieraon.
I could take all day to tell you how it all works, but the simplest thing to do is to check out the roleplaying boards and see for yourself, I'm sure it wont take long for you to catch on after reading a few posts and if you still need something explained don't hesitate to contact a staff member, they're all very friendly and helpful.
We do, of course, have SOME rules here in Lieraon, just like anywhere else. We don't like rules, they tend to limit people, but these are some rules that we have all agreed we need. These rules aren't too limiting from a roleplaying standpoint and are mostly here to keep the boards civil and remain in the spirit of Lieraon.
Public Flaming
Ideally nobody will fight at all, but if an issue with another member DOES arise, please keep it private, and don't let it spill into the public boards, especially the roleplaying boards. Flamewars ruin forums for everyone, not just those involved. Please don't start, condone, or participate in them in any way. Any member who are found to be involved in these topics will be punished, I don't expect this to be an issue, but it's possible, so I'm warning everyone now not to do it.
Abuse
This topic is a little long, but arguably the most important rule of all, so please read it.
If you are being abused by another user or group of users, don't hesitate to report it to a member of staff immediately and action WILL be taken. This is not in any way an idle threat; Abuse will not be tolerated here.
If you are being abused by a moderator or member of staff (which I doubt will happen, but nothing can ever be certain) report it immediately to me; Seth, and action will be taken. No matter what the circumstances, a moderator or staff member is NEVER to abuse a user, that is final.
Please keep in mind that this site is purely for fun, so try not to ruin it.
Make sure you contact us if someone is harassing you, as you have the right to have fun with this site just like everyone else, and we all know being abused is not fun.
It would be good if you could provide proof of the matter at hand, just to make our jobs easier but even if you cannot we ask that you please report any abuse.
Finally, keep this in mind; if a member is abusing you in some way, even if you don't think it's a big deal chances are that they are also abusing other users, and the abuse may be a very big deal to them. Your speaking up and reporting the abuse will notify staff of the full extent of the problem, and more appropriate action can then be taken.
Sexual Harassment
I don't like the fact that this topic even needs to be addressed, but the sad fact is that it does happen, and can happen anywhere.
I'm going to say this once, and once only. ANY sexual harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If sexual harassment is found to have happened, an immediate and permanent ban of the abuser will be put in place.
Multiboxing
The issue of making multiple accounts just so you can be protected by many characters, this issue is a little complex.
There is no reason at all that you cannot have several characters, that is totally and 100% fine.
What is NOT fine, is when you begin using those characters together in roleplays in order to gain some kind of advantage.
I understand that the line between simply using more than one of your characters in a post, and using more than one of your characters in a post to give you an advantage is a fine, grayish blue line, as such each instance will be reviewed individually.
Roleplaying Etiquette
We're almost done.
Etiquette is halfway between a rule, and a suggestion. The basic idea of this is that if you want to use someone Else's' character in one of your posts, talk with them beforehand, tell them what you want to do in the post, and make sure that they are ok with you portraying their character like this.
If your character is used in someone Else's roleplays without your permission, tell an owner or moderator, but please be a little reasonable. for example, if someone placed your character in a town, walked by you and said "Hi" chances are that staff will not take action, as this does not affect your character in any adverse way.
On the other hand, if someone were to place your character in a post and they were to make you randomly murder someone, staff will take action, as this is a major act that your character might never even dream of doing, and this kind of post DOES affect your roleplaying in a major way.
Basically, please have some consideration for your fellow members when roleplaying, don't abuse their characters in your posts, and chances are that your own characters will not be abused.
Language
Please, do your best to keep swears to a minimum. There is no way for us to tell for sure how old other members are, or who may be viewing the forums, so try to keep civil and nice at all times. A swear or two here and there will go unnoticed, but repeated and severe swearing will result in warnings and possibly actions against you if the problem is particularly severe.
And by the way, anything more than light swearing (Hell, damn, bastard, etc.) in roleplays is really not acceptable, as it simply takes away from the spirit of the game. The roleplaying world should be considered as just that, a world where you assume the role of your character, in the time and place that the world is set, and as such the spirit of the world should be considered when roleplaying. Any roleplays that do not keep with the spirit of things will be deleted or modified, depending on the severity. As always, if anybody sees roleplays like this please report them and we will take action as soon as possible.
I don't want to see any flying cars, or random alien probings on our boards.

A final note; the staff are good people, hand picked by me to keep order on the boards. They are all good at roleplaying, and know the dos and donts of posting.
If you have any issues or questions, please feel absolutely free to contact a staff member, or post on the help board. Our older members will almost certainly respond to help board topics with great advice, and staff will always do their best to help you out.
